What is original drummer for rush?

The original drummer for Rush was John Rutsey. He co-founded the band with bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson in 1968. Rutsey played on Rush's self-titled debut album in 1974, but left the band shortly thereafter due to health issues related to diabetes. He was replaced by Neil Peart, who became one of the most celebrated drummers in rock history. Rutsey passed away in 2008.
